In this talk, I will share my experience and tips on how to perform

high-quality database research, tailored for Chinese students. The talk

will cover aspects such as

* what is research

* how to start

* what is a good idea and what is novelty

* how to write papers and give presentations

王炜博士的简介:

Dr. Wei Wang is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computer Science and

Engineering, The University of New South Wales, Australia. His current

research interests include integration of database and information

retrieval technologies (DB+IR), data cleaning and integration, query

processing and optimization, and spatial databases. He has published

over sixty research papers in these areas in premier international

journals (TODS, VLDB J, TKDE) and conferences (SIGMOD, VLDB, ICDE, WWW).
